BW BerthwrightTide, quay, cargo, time

Harbour control · local waters

Find a safe time and place for every ship.

Berthwright is a free harbour scheduling puzzle for players who like timetables and constraint solving. Give each ship a dock and an arrival time, match water depth, dock length and cargo equipment to a rising and falling tide, and fit every ship into the day without overlaps. It has 24 harbour puzzles and a daily tide board.

The tide rises and falls through the watch, so a berth deep enough at noon can be too shallow at dawn. Undo is free; the plan only counts when you close the watch.

Read the water before the clock.

              1. Select a ship from arrivals.
              2. Choose a berth row and start time. Its whole service block must remain clear.
              3. At every occupied time, berth depth plus tide must meet ship draft plus the day’s clearance allowance.
              4. Cargo equipment and quay length must also match. Reassignments and undo are free.
              5. Later watches add priority contracts and timed berth closures. A three-step harbour hint begins with feasibility, then suggests a berth, then marks an exact start.

The board is a grid of buttons, so a screen reader reads each berth, hour, effective depth, and the exact rule blocking it.
